SHE MAY HAVE every designer clothing item at her disposal, but sometimes Kim Kardashian likes to dive through her sartorial treasure trove.
Rather than opt for a new and unseen outfit to wear at Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Italian wedding, Kim re-wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown she first donned almost 11 years ago.
Kim made the fashion revelation on social media, sharing to her Instagram Stories a “fun fact” about her long black lace dress.
“Fun fact about this look for the wedding! I know you guys just saw me in my archieve [sic] on last week’s episode of The Kardashians! I have every piece photographed and on an app,” she wrote.
The comment was in reference to the latest episode of her reality show, which revealed Kim has a warehouse stocked with 30,000 pieces of clothing and accessories (yes, really) she has worn over the years. “Every time I look at something, it’s just a memory,” Kim recalled during the show.
The SKIMS founder then explained in her Stories that she “love[s]” a themed trip — Kourtney and Barker’s lavish wedding was reportedly sponsored by Dolce & Gabbana — so she wanted to make use of one of her own ensembles by the Italian House.
“So when I knew I was going to Italy (LOVE a theme for a trip) I pulled all my Dolce & Gabbana clothes to try on again and see if I could re-wear anything!”

While Kim may have worn a few new outfits throughout the three-day wedding extravaganza in Portofino, the reality star donned a strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown during the ceremony. She originally bought it back in 2011 from Bergdorf Goodman.
To prove her point, Kim shared an old photo of her wearing the dress to the 2011 Glamour Awards.
“The dress I wore to the wedding was a Dolce & Gabbana I purchased at Bergdorff Goodman in 2011 and wore it to the Glamour Awards,” she wrote.
But as style changes and fashion moves forward, Kim revamped the outfit to suit her personal taste today.
“But to make the dress more modern and more me, I wore this lace gloved [Vetements] dress I had in my closet for a layered lace look,” she explained.
Kim also posted about her sustainable wedding guest dress to Twitter with fans praising the reality star for her conscious — and savvy — fashion decision.
“I didn’t think I could love this look more but the fact you made it from an existing piece makes it actually perfect *chefs kiss* Please do this more and more to encourage us all to reuse and recycle,” one person wrote.
While another said: “I love that you recycled the dress and made it modern. It definitely relates more to the average person who cannot afford to buy a dress once and never wear it again. @KimKardashian do showing you are just a normal person !!”
More stars today are choosing to upcycle their current wardrobe, with Emma Stone most recently wearing her Louis Vuitton wedding reception dress to the 2022 Met Gala.
